The Enverus Innovation Underground series, hosted by Enverus Intelligence® Research Analyst Graham Bain, features in-depth discussions with industry leaders pioneering the adoption of cleaner energy solutions, including CCUS, hydrogen, geothermal, direct lithium extraction and more.
Data center growth driven by AI and hyperscalers is accelerating power demand at an unprecedented pace. While demand is massive, access to reliable, scalable generation is the true constraint. Interconnection queues, equipment lead times and grid congestion are redefining how projects get built and financed.
In this session, Graham is joined by Carson Kearl to break down what data center developers actually need: certainty of load, speed to energization and firm, dispatchable power. The discussion connects those requirements to the subsurface, exploring how geothermal and natural gas with CCS can help meet rising demand while navigating interconnection and infrastructure bottlenecks.
Topics covered:
The scale of hyperscaler load growth and its impact on power markets
Why time-to-power is now a core economic driver
Interconnection queues, equipment delays and grid congestion
Behind-the-meter strategies to bypass traditional timelines
Where geothermal and CCS-enabled gas align with reliability and emissions goals
