Inside the mind of the energy investor

Dane leads a multidisciplinary team providing technical and economic insights that guide capital allocation and strategic decisions across the global oil and gas industry. His work focuses on North American asset quality and longevity benchmarking, resource quantification, and implications for key operators and infrastructure. A major contributor to Enverus’ oil and gas research franchise, Dane regularly briefs executive and investor audiences. Based in Calgary, he holds a BASc in Geological Engineering from Queen’s University and is a CFA charter holder. Dane joined Enverus (formerly ITG) in 2014.

Brian serves as a Partner for the firm, concentrating on NGP’s efforts in sourcing new investments, acquisition evaluation and serving on the boards of current investments. He joined NGP in 2013. Brian has over a decade of experience in the energy industry, and in his time with NGP, he has worked directly with over 20 upstream and midstream companies across the investment lifecycle—from first idea to ultimate exit. Prior to NGP, Brian was an Investment Banking Analyst with Barclays Capital’s Natural Resources Group in Houston, where he focused on financing and merger and acquisition transactions in the oil and gas industry.   Brian received a B.B.A. in Finance and a B.A. in Economics in 2011 from The University of Texas at Austin, where he was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa scholastic honor society.

Bilal Khan is a Senior Managing Director in the Private Equity Group. Since joining Blackstone in 2009, Mr. Khan has been involved in the execution of several Blackstone investments, including various Sithe Global investments, Transmission Developers, Irth Solutions, Aypa Power, Onyx Renewables, Pacific Gas & Electric, Legence, Array Technologies, Enstall, Xpansiv, Energy Exemplar, Trystar, Coval and Lancium.  Before joining Blackstone, Mr. Khan was an Associate at GTCR Golder Rauner, where he was involved with the analysis and execution of private equity investments in a wide range of industries. Prior to that, Mr. Khan worked in the Mergers and Acquisitions department at Lazard Frères focused on Power & Utilities clients.   Mr. Khan received a BS in Applied Economics from Cornell University, where he graduated magna cum laude. He also received an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and an MA in International Studies from the University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Khan serves as a Director of Transmission Developers, Aypa Power, Legence, Irth Solutions, Array Technologies, Xpansiv, Energy Exemplar, Coval, Trystar and Lancium.

Mr. Peters joined Tailwater Capital in September 2013 and is responsible for deal sourcing, transaction execution and portfolio oversight. He currently serves as a Director of Frontier Infrastructure, Pickton Gas Storage, Hydrotech Energy Solutions, Pivotal Petroleum Partners, and Pivotal Royalties Partners. Mr. Peters has over 15 years of experience in energy private equity and investment banking. Prior to joining Tailwater, Mr. Peters was an Analyst at Raymond James & Associates where he focused on public capital raises and M&A advisory work within the energy industry. Mr. Peters graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Alabama with a BBA in Finance and Accounting.
