Webinar details

Interconnection Agreements in Months, Not Years

SPP’s Consolidated Planning Process replaces DISIS with one framework that ties transmission planning to generator interconnection. SPP now names Planned Interconnection Locations and publishes a standardized GRID-C rate before the application window closes. You know your GRID-C rate before you commit, and your site choice decides the rest of your upgrade cost. The first application window is scheduled to close in mid-January 2027.

Forrest Sanderson, Lead Principal Consultant, and Rishabh Gupta, Senior Product Advisor, break down the CPP, unpack the PIL concept, and share key insights on the new process. Then they show how to turn planned and unplanned locations into projects with Interconnect and PRISM® together.

What you’ll learn

  • How the CPP differs from the DISIS model, and where the faster path to an interconnection agreement comes from
  • What a Planned Interconnection Location (PIL) is, and why PILs are attractive
  • How GRID-C gives you upgrade cost visibility up front, and what changes at an Unplanned Interconnection Location (UPIL)
  • What the new process means for projects entering the first Interconnection Cluster Study (ICS)
  • How to shortlist PIL and UPIL sites in Interconnect, then check land, competition and more in PRISM®, or work the other way around

Who should attend

  • Developers and IPPs with SPP projects in development, or planning to apply in SPP’s new interconnection process
  • Interconnection and transmission teams that select points of interconnection and manage queue positions
  • Investors, lenders, and M&A teams pricing interconnection risk on SPP projects
  • Utility and transmission planners tracking new generation on their systems
