Enverus is tracking approximately 40 GW of data center projects planning to bring their own generation, creating new infrastructure decisions for midstream teams.
But demand alone does not make an opportunity viable.
Before teams commit time, resources or capital, they need to evaluate whether the project has the right power availability, natural gas access, infrastructure readiness, site viability and strategic fit to move forward.
Major operators are already positioning around this trend. Williams has announced more than $5B tied to its first three data center power agreements, Kinder Morgan is pursuing more than 5 Bcf/d of power-generation opportunities and Energy Transfer has contracted approximately 900 MMcf/d to serve three U.S. data centers.
