The deep Wolfcamp is being exploited with new unconventional technologies in areas where it previously was overlooked. Pioneer said they will drill to the Wolfcamp in all of their Spraberry locations. So how deep is the Wolfcamp?
The western side is deeper with depths reaching down to the 10,000- 14,000′ range as opposed to the eastern side with depths of about 8,000′. Let’s take a look at the 12 month gas cumulative for wells that are still producing to see if there are any noticeable changes in volumes with the varying depths. (click on the map to enlarge)
It is hard to discern any noticeable difference from this map that is color coded by 12 month gas cum. It will be interesting to see what sort of results Pioneer obtains from their drilling efforts in the deeper Wolfcamp zone.
