There is a trend in the Wolfberry regarding operators reentering old wells and testing other producible horizons including the deep Wolfcamp. Below is a map of the reentry permits filed since the beginning of 2009. 68 were issued to not only well known companies such as Reliance, Mariner and Summit, but also smaller companies such as Opal Resources.
Of the 68 wells with reentry permits filed, 25 have no record of any production and 20 are currently producing. The 20 that are currently producing are on the map below.
Howard County has the lion’s share of the producing, reentered wells. Opal Resources put up a number of their Wolfberry property up for sale recently. I’m not sure if the leases for sale are the ones they have reentered or not.
