Earlier this month Rex Energy provided an operational update for their Marcellus Shale activity. Currently Rex has drilled and is awaiting completion of 7 gross Marcellus wells (5.5 net), 4 in Butler Co., PA and 3 in Westmoreland Co., PA. They expect these wells to be completed in 3Q 2010 and also expect their JV partner, Williams Appalachia LLC, to add a second rig during the same quarter. By year end, Rex is planning to add another 5 gross Marcellus wells (2.5 net) with drilling and completion costs of $8.4 million.
Early last month Rex announced the results of 2 horizontal wells in Butler Co. with a combined peak 24 hour rate of 5.9 MMcfe/d which they expect will increase as additional water is returned to the surface. They also reported in Westmoreland Co. that they have drilled 1 well in the Slavek Trust unit and are drilling their last well in the unit which will be the last wells operated by Rex in the county as a result of their joint venture agreement with Williams.
The following is a map of drilling permits in the last 365 days issued to Rex Energy and their JV partner Williams Appalachia LLC in Butler and Westmoreland Counties.
