One of the very best additions we made to Drillinginfo (and yes, it was a BASIC feature, which means EVERYONE has access to it!), was our PLAY PIPELINES.
What are Play Pipelines, you ask? We have a team of geologists, petroleum engineers and analysts follow several important plays, with more coming.
What do I mean by “follow”?
They monitor every press release, attend technical and financial analyst webinars and seminars, read all the magazines, synopsize them, link to the source materials, and create and regularly update a Powerpoint presentation that outlines quickly what is known about the particular play, who are the players, and where it is expanding. Special attention is paid to land and drilling costs, pressures, frac parameters, and initial production rates. They also create one button common searches for these plays, such as “expiring leases in the next 6 months”, “new permits in the last 90 days”, and “current play production”; a small example of the variety of searches they create and maintain for you.
Oh, I nearly forgot. They also pull important non-regulatory information from the press releases and maintain these in data files which can mapped on the Drilling Info system or downloaded as an excel file to your computer.
What Plays are we covering today?
Barnett, Haynesville, Fayetteville, Eagle Ford, Marcellus, Granite Wash, Booch Gas, Bakken, and Wolfberry.
Here is what I have heard so far from Drilling Info members…
“This supplants what I was paying a geologist and tech to do. Now they can get to work finding hydrocarbons instead of doing basic research”- CEO, mid-sized independent.
“I got a call the other day from a prospective client asking if I knew anything about the Eagle Ford. In ten minutes, I was able to get familiarity, and in half an hour, I had expertise enough to land the job”. – Geological Consultant.
This is what we originally set out to do with Drilling Info… make people money and make them more efficient. It is a goal that we will never fully attain. There is always something we can do better, faster, more powerfully.
My goal is to keep Drilling Info at the forefront and to make our competitors better than what they would be without us. I want to thank all of our outstanding membership base… quick to praise us to their friends and quick to let us know when and how we can do better. This is the kind of relationship we cherish.
