Stacked Spraberry and Wolfcamp Producers

Wolfberry is the area of the Permian Basin operators use to describe wells with stacked pay zones in the Wolfcamp and Spraberry producing zones.  The graphic below is from the November 09 Pioneer Resources Presentation which can be found here in DNA.  In their YE2009 conference call, Pioneer noted that players in the Permian Basin are going to be looking into recompleting old wells into the deeper Wolfcamp, including Spraberry wells.  This is a cheaper way to use current fracture technology to exploit previously uneconomic deeper Wolfcamp horizons.

Below is a Drilling Info generated map showing all Spraberry wells drilled since 2000.  Many of these wells may be candidates for recompletion into the Wolfcamp.

Here is a map of all the Wolfcamp wells brought online since the year 2000.

Based on the Spraberry map, it appears that the stacked pay wells will be centered around Midland county.

We’re keeping track of the Wolfberry play in the Drilling Info Wolfberry Unconventional Update folder.
