If you’re an independent and you just saw a great 500 acre prospect disappear in a spate of lease buying that supported a mega-resource play acreage position, what are you going to do? Well… go somewhere that you don’t have to compete for high dollar acreage. Maybe Ohio? Play the reasonably shallow Rose Run? It’s a teasing trend that probably has some legs; with depths around 4000 feet, individual wells capable of making 100K-300K Barrels of oil , and good amounts of associated gas, the play looks as if it’s JUST far enough west to be out of the Utica cross-hairs.
