Drillinginfo Leads Business Donations for Amplify Austin 2014
Austin-based technology solutions company holds number one spot for the second time
On March 13 our HR team sent out a heads up email touting all the great stuff that Amplify Austin does for the community and letting us get ready for the big day, and on the 20th we were reminded that Amplify was about to start and that DI would match our donations up to a set amount.
Drillinginfo, the leading SaaS & data analytics company for energy exploration decision support, took the number one spot among Business Fundraisers in Amplify Austin 2014 for the second year running.
As we arrived at work on 3/21 emails were already zipping around the office. Over the next several hours the various teams within DI started challenging one another. Marketing and Finance were particularly heated in our interdepartmental teasing and boasting
In March Austin-based Drillinginfo rallied a company-wide effort to participate in the 24-hour “festival of giving” that aims to help hundreds of nonprofits that are meeting critical needs. With over 400 participating non-profits, companies participating in Business Fundraisers encouraged employees to donate to the non-profit of their choice.
As the day progressed, additional perks and matching grants were offered by executives, managers, and individual contributors. Around the company and on my team we were sending notes about the charities we were supporting: HAAM, My Healing Place, Austin Pets Alive, AGE, Volunteer Legal Services…
After taking the top spot in 2013, Drillinginfo reaffirmed its commitment to the local community in 2014 by once again leading Business Fundraiser donations. 91 percent of Drillinginfo employees participated in 2014, giving a total of $46,245 to the non-profits of their choice, including Hospice Austin, YMCA of Austin, and Boys and Girls Clubs of Austin.
As the workday wound down, and even though it was late on a Friday, everyone was excitedly checking the results, offering last minute matches, pleased to talk about the community, pleased to talk about the organizations that make it great.
“We’re thrilled that Drillinginfo and other members of the Austin business community have joined forces with individual donors and their employees to amplify giving for Central Texas,” said Tom Spencer, executive director of I Live Here, I Give Here.
In the end the number we’re most pleased about is the 5.7 million dollars raised for central Texas through the event. And, yes, we’re also happy about topping the board – it was fun, and the impact on the community of Austin is important.
Drillinginfo is a great place to work. There’s probably a position waiting for you!
