As a follow up to an earlier blog, Common Resources Acquired by EXCO and BG Group… What to do with the Eagle Ford?, Talisman Energy Inc. recently purchased Common Resource’s Eagle Ford assets. The Canadian company paid $359MM, which completes the divestiture of Common with the previous sale of their Haynesville assets to the JV of EXCO and BG Group. Back in April, Talisman sold off their non-core Canadian assets for $1.9 billion with the plan to focus on North American shale gas business.
Talisman now holds 37K net acres in the Eagle Ford with approximately 400 possible well locations. They have one rig in the play and expect to have 2-3 by the end of the year. Their new acreage is in the wet gas section and they estimate 2 Tcfe which includes 40 MMboe of liquids. They expect up to 200 Bbls of oil per Mmcf of gas. The following is a map of their acreage, in which they have 5 year leases, from their May 2010 Corporate Presentation.
