The Austin Petroleum Exploration Society (APES) and Austin Professional Landman Association (APLA) hosted their 5thAnnual Austin Oilman’s Golf Tournament benefiting the Capital Area Food Bank last Friday, May 4, 2012.
In addition to being a fantastic opportunity for Austin-area energy professionals to get together and have a great time, the organizations and their generous sponsors raised $25,000 for the Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB), up from last year’s $10,000. The tournament was played on two courses at Barton Creek Resort and Spa in order to facilitate the 272 players that came out to support this awesome organization.
The Capital Area Food Bank provides food and grocery products to over 300 Partner Agencies in 21 Central Texas counties. Last year alone CAFB provided more than 24 million pounds of food to an area that covers 19,064 miles in Central Texas. Every $1 donated provides $5 worth of food for two nutritious meals. We are extremely happy to say that this year’s efforts provided $125,000 in meals and 50,000 meals to Central Texas families. Of course none of this would be possible without our sponsors. This year we were lucky enough to have Statoil as our title sponsor. Their tremendous contribution will make a lasting impression in this community that they are newly a part of. Our other generous sponsors included:
Brigham Land Management
Oil Patch Rental Services
Sadler Law Firm
M&J Land Services
Texas Capital Bank
